This is a 10-week online course that runs from June 29 – September 6, 2026, and provides construction professionals with the knowledge needed to effectively bid, contract, build, and close out green building projects.
This is a 10-week online course that runs from June 29 – September 6, 2026, and provides construction professionals with the knowledge needed to effectively bid, contract, build, and close out green building projects.
The course offers up-to-date tools, resources, discussions, and active problem solving while reviewing green building materials, practices, systems, and more. It also explores the green building process from the contractor’s and subcontractor’s point of view.
This course can be applied toward the Certificates in Construction Practices, Construction Supervision: Building, and Project Management. The class is offered fully online, and students should expect to spend approximately 3–5 hours per week completing coursework.
Graded assignments will consist of one quiz for each module and participation in at least two class discussions. Students should provide at least 4 contributions to the class discussions each week to gain the maximum points.
It is important that the student keep up with this construction contracts online course and not fall behind. Course modules will be made available to students on Sunday of each week. Class work must be completed before the following Monday. Students will not be able to work ahead of the class although reading assignments will be made available in advance.
Learning Objectives:
- Know how green building impacts material and equipment procurement
- Be familiar with the risks imposed by green construction
- Know how to find green construction impact information in the specifications and contract
- Understand the construction delivery methods associated with green projects
- Know how green building will impact the construction processes
- Know how to work with an outside commissioning authority to complete the job
- Understand how construction scheduling and sequencing is impacted by green building
- Know how to reduce the risks of green construction
- Be able to evaluate subcontractors and material suppliers for green projects
- Understand green procurement and the contractors responsibilities for same
- Understand green project close-out and commissioning
The course textbook, Green Building Illustrated, 2nd Edition, will be provided.
