Event Details

Join GBCA, the local area OSHA Office, and Contractor representatives as we facilitate breakout conversations on OSHA’s Focus Four hazards. Attendees will have the opportunity to share best practices in breakout rooms with other participants as we work through real life case studies around Focus Four Hazard incidents. Each breakout room will have one Contractor and one OSHA representative who will facilitate an interactive discussion. GBCA staff will be taking notes in each room and will create toolbox talks to attendees from discussion findings. At the end of the session, everyone will return to the main room, and each facilitator will give a brief recap of their group discussion. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to ask questions and interact with our valued OSHA partners in this intimate setting.

Out of 5,333 worker fatalities in private industry in calendar year 2019, 1061 or 19.9% were in construction — that is, one in five worker deaths last year were in construction. The leading causes of private sector worker deaths (excluding highway collisions) in the construction industry were falls, followed by struck by object, electrocution, and caught-in/between. These "Fatal Four" were responsible for more than half (59.9%) the construction worker deaths in 2019, BLS reports. Eliminating the Fatal Four would save 582 workers' lives in America every year.
