Shawn Carlin is the Vice President of Business Operations in Gilbane Building Company’s Philadelphia office and is responsible for driving consistency and excellence for operations, strategy, sales, and marketing while overseeing all project and employees in the local area.

Mr. Carlin started his construction career over almost 30 years ago as a project manager and estimator after graduating from Temple University with a degree in Civil Construction Engineering Technology. Since that time, he has successfully worked throughout the Mid-Atlantic region in a number of markets including education, healthcare, science and technology, commercial and retail. For the last 27 years, Shawn has focused his efforts on healthcare and higher education construction operations and has built an extensive network providing direct management or executive oversight on a number of local high-profile science and technology, healthcare and higher education projects.

Shawn applies his extensive knowledge working with complex, schedule-driven projects to each and every aspect of construction operations. His hands-on approach utilizes his experience with scheduling, estimating, budget preparation, value engineering, sustainability and constructability to ensure success on his projects from kick-off to start up. He is a process driven Lean leader focused on continual incremental improvement of the value stream through elimination of waste as well as the growth, respect and engagement of the teams who work with him.
