Eggs with OSHA: Technology in Construction Safety

Join the Local Area OSHA Office and GBCA for our Eggs with OSHA event, focusing on raising awareness about job site safety technologies. OSHA will provide a heat safety update and explore various apps utilized for safety measures, such as the OSHA Heat App and the National Weather Service App. Additionally, Matt Ries from NovaCare Rehabilitation and Ed Christy from INTECH Construction will discuss wellness and fitness-related apps, including the Ladder App, Miller Fall Clearance App, Decimal Level App, Stretching/Fitness App, Harness Hero App, Site Safety App, Noise App, Heat App, and more.


Since 2013, Ed Christy has served as a safety director and remained dedicated to safety within the construction industry, exclusively working for a General Contractor. Possessing a CHST and numerous competent persons certifications, Ed entered the realm of safety with a mission to revolutionize construction safety practices and exert influence over his domain. Active memberships in ASSP, the Mid-Atlantic Safety Council CM Committee, and the GBCA safety committee underscore his commitment. Furthermore, he imparts knowledge as an instructor at Temple Fox Business School, specializing in OSHA regulations and safety management controls. Ed's ambition is to foster widespread acceptance and integration of safety principles into everyday occupational practices while striving for personal and professional growth.

Matt Ries obtained his Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA in 2010.  Matt went on to obtain certification as a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT).   As a CHT, Matt specialized in treatment of injuries to the upper extremity.  Matt has worked for NovaCare Rehabilitation for 13 years, where he has excelled in treatment of the injured worker.  He has performed over 200 Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE’s) and 300 Post Offer Employment Tests (POETs).  In the past two years, Matt has taken on a role as a WorkStrategies Coordinator with NovaCare where he specializes in injury prevention services.  Matt has established relationships with several local companies, and he has implemented on-site services aimed at keeping workers safe and healthy on the job.
